These easy caramel apple slices with chocolate drizzle are a fun, crowd-pleasing party treat. Crisp apple rounds are coated in creamy caramel, drizzled with chocolate, and topped with your favorite mix-ins for a less-messy, totally irresistible dessert.
Ingredients
- 3–4 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 cup caramel bits or soft caramel candies (about 6 oz)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
- 1/4 cup assorted toppings (chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, crushed pretzels, shredded coconut, mini marshmallows)
- Wooden popsicle sticks or sturdy skewers (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and dry apples well. Slice each apple vertically into 1/2-inch thick rounds. Remove seeds and core from the center of each slice. Brush both sides lightly with lemon juice.
- If desired, insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each apple round for easier dipping and serving.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramel bits and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring after each, until melted and smooth (about 1-2 minutes total).
- Place apple slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spoon or spread a generous layer of warm caramel over the top of each slice. Let caramel set for 2-3 minutes.
- In a clean bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth and pourable.
- Drizzle melted chocolate over each caramel-covered slice using a spoon or fork.
- Sprinkle with desired toppings and press gently so they stick.
- Transfer tray to the fridge for 10-15 minutes, or until caramel and chocolate are firm.
- Arrange on a platter and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
Pat apple slices dry before dipping for best caramel adhesion. Use coconut milk and dairy-free chocolate for a vegan version. Mix and match toppings for seasonal or allergy-friendly adaptations. Store slices in a single layer in the fridge for up to 2 days; use parchment between layers if stacking.
