- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Nutella (plus more for swirling)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. You can leave a few small chunks for texture if you like!
- Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix until combined.
- Stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until fully incorporated.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, and flour.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, then add dollops of Nutella on top. Use a knife or a skewer to swirl it in slightly.
- Add the remaining batter on top and repeat the Nutella dollops and swirling process.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use overripe bananas for the best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter to avoid dense bread.
